As we go about our daily activities, it’s beneficial to keep in mind the fact that what we build today is the progenitor of our lives tomorrow.  Due to this, you can say that we are our own history.   It can be especially motivating to note this if you are currently attempting to build a life for yourself that is conducive to your personal hopes and dreams.  To not just project ourselves into the future but to be active participants in building it is the only way we can accomplish what we daydream about in the first place.  One of the most powerful ways to remain accountable daily is to recognize your current place in the trajectory of your life:  The present you.

The present you becomes the past you as each second passes by.  At every moment we become historical representations of our ever evolving selves.  To take command of this thought is to also realize that your actions in the moment are what builds the future that you want to achieve.  Your future self is in that moment, enjoying the provisions granted by what you’ve built, and partaking in the results of all the labor committed to.  For most of us, we aren’t in the enjoyment phase of life; the one that is the culmination of a lifetime’s work.

Many of us have just begun the process.  If that’s the case, take heart in the fact that if you are a good steward of your time, you will make your future self proud.  Your current self will daily become your historical self and be reflected on by your future person, who evaluates and considers your actions.  This future self will either lament your inactivity or be proud of the fact that you committed to a better life, laid a strong foundation, and worked hard to achieve a living that your future self is happy to dwell in.

What you do now, this day, is of tremendous importance because if you do nothing, you will receive nothing in your future.  The harder you work, the quicker your future self can be rewarded by your endeavors.  It’s obvious this is true by looking at who you are right now.  You are the future result of past endeavors as we speak.  Are you happy with where you are right now?  Do you feel you could have done more with your time leading up to this moment?  Can you look back on your prior selves and say you are proud of them for their actions and accomplishments?  If not, then commit to making your future self proud now so that when you become that future self, you can be happy with the actions of the historical you that was able to make such an enjoyable future life possible.

Take command of your day with a structured plan that will build the future that you want.  Doing so will culminate into a much more leisurely and efficient future filled with comely aspects such as financial stability, comfort, and world weary wisdom.

Start building today.  You will, in no time, be able to reflect on who you are now as a past self and be thankful for what you accomplished.  Go ahead, get to work, and make your future self proud of you.
